Description
Jesus told a story about a prodigal son welcomed back by his forgiving father. By imagining what would happen for the prodigal after he turned and came home, this book takes the story further and touches on many possibilities for readers' lives when they too come home to God's extravagant love. Hurts and scars can be healed with no need to hide away in the attic, and a new relationship is found to be possible with a good Father who invites all into an incredible relationship.
In contrast, the self-sufficient older son in Jesus' story points to what people miss if they ignore the welcome home and try to manage life on their own. Western culture encourages just that, but fortunately, the gift of awe the Creator gives can move people out of self-absorption, and they can welcome being sons and daughters in a family they share with Jesus. Most wonderful is the Holy Spirit's work, gradually making believers to be like Jesus in character and compassion, enabling them to flourish now, and preparing them for the day they meet Jesus face-to-face.
