How New England Happened

A narrative of New England's history, from its early explorers to the close of the Victorian era. Each chapter chronicles one aspect of New England's past - from seafaring explorers and early Native American inhabitants, to the Revolution, literary luminaries, and the shaping of the landscape through agriculture, industry and tourism. To illustrate her tale, Christina Tree describes things to do and see in the six northeastern states. A "Details" section at the end of each chapter and a numbered map provide driving directions and other information for travelling history buffs.
