Description
This text is for postgraduate physicians in the UK and several other countries. The first edition was produced in 1982 (Halnan) with a second version in 1990 (Sikora and Halnan). The third edition follows the previous successful pattern, but there are major changes in certain chapters to bring it up-to-date. More specific information on technology derived from the recent revolution in biology is included. As well as an introductory chapter on molecular biology, there are separate reviews of tumour suppressor genes, molecular genetics, molecular radiobiology, drug resistance, lymphokines, tumour targeting and gene therapy. The main clinical chapters have been updated in most cases by the same authors as in the second edition. Major changes have been made in the sections on gastrointestinal, breast, testicular, lymphomas and gynaecological cancer.
