Description
It is 1639. James Stanfield, eldest son of Salem-based
trader, Isaac Stanfield, leaves Bermuda on a merchantman

at sea. The setting is Barbados, the growth of its sugar cane
industry and black slavery.
The action follows James as he
meets and has to contend with a wide range of unforgettable
characters in uncompromising circumstances.
