Revisions?

The process of historical revision is both continuous and cumulative. This issue of "Socialist History" is concerned with historical revision, mainly in the area of labour movement historiography. The following subjects are covered: in an exclusive interview, John Monks reappraises the history of the TUC in the light of post-60s developments; Roger Spalding re-evaluates the writing career of Michael Foot; Alastair MacLeod recalls the reactions of Peter Fryer, George Matthews, Malcolm MacEwan and others to the events of 1956; John Newsinger assesses Roy Foster's writing on the Great Famine; David Morgan examines new findings from the Moscow archives; and Rob Copeland considers the prospects and precedents for a Labour government.
