Description
This textbook addresses the problem of control system design and examines the development of a model, design of a controller and the application and implementation of these techniques on equipment accessible to mechanical engineering students. The book has not been intended as an introductory treatise on the subject, but concentrates on linear single input, single input, analogue control systems and classical control and attempts to provide a sound practical and theoretical knowledge of the subject. The text contains four case studies based on standard pieces of laboratory equipment, which are used to illustrate various aspects of the theory. It is anticipated that these studies and the accompanying BASIC computer programmes will be used to support laboratory classroom demonstrations.
