It's been a year since the broken promise that sent his world tumbling down. Since then, former assassin Ethan Ellis has found solace in the unlikeliest of places-in the wastelands with Laiken, happy and content for the first time in his life.

But then he is sought out by President Slater, his old mentor and the man who let him down when he needed him most. Slater promises Ethan a chance to get the pardon he so desperately wanted, but there's a catch-Ethan must first complete one more mission, infiltrating a group of rogues who pose a threat to the Safe Zones, a group so dangerous that they have the entire government on edge.

Ethan is more than willing to take the job if it clears his name. But as he gets closer to the group he's supposed to kill, the mission starts making less and less sense. Caught in a web of lies and secrets, Ethan begins to question his place in a post-apocalyptic nation and the dangerous corruption that has seeped into its every level.
