Barnaby Carder - aka "Barn the Spoon" - is a master craftsman spoon carver, co-organiser of Spoonfest, an annual three-day spoon carving festival held in Edale, Derbyshire, and founder of The Green Wood Guild, London's centre for traditional wood craft offering a range of courses and workshops. Barn has been carving since the age of 12. After gaining a degree in biology from Bristol University, he apprenticed himself to a cabinet maker specialising in green woodwork, then spent several years working and living in forests, before moving to London to share his passion for green woodwork by opening a spoon shop in Hackney. He is the author of Spon: A Guide to Spoon Carving and the New Wood Culture.
