Organizational Capabilities and Technological Change examines the history of eight of the largest electrical manufacturers in the Western world between 1878-1990 and focuses on the evolution of organizational capabilities in these firms. Drawing upon knowledge-based theories of the firm and competitive advantage, the author presents a conceptual framework for analyzing organizational capabilities in science-based industries. The book contributes to the neo-Chandlerian literature on big business, and to the development of the theory of the firm in economics and strategic management.
