Description
In the Spring of 1990 under the auspices of the British Council, leaders in British neurosurgery met to discuss the advances in the speciality with colleagues throughout the world. This volume has grown from selected presentations to this meeting. The contributions range over four main topics: spinal disorders, vascular lesions, advances in investigations and monitoring, and intracranial tumours. Expert contributors show how British practice in these areas has been changed as a result of innovations within Britain and in response to developments elsewhere; they also for shadow developments to be expected in the remaining decade of the 20th century. The book will be of interest to neurosurgeons and to neurosurgical trainees seeking an up-to-date review of these important topics. The contributions may also be useful to the many other colleagues upon who nerurosurgical practices is founded: neurologists and other physicians, neuroradiologists, neuro-anaesthetics, neurosurgical nurses and rehabilitation therapists, to mention a few.
