Description
A new series of concept and information books, "Ready Steady Go" is especially designed for 2-4 year olds. Each book builds on concepts which young children may have met before and provides further information on a specific topic. The child-centred information is organized spread by spread, providing plenty to look at and talk about. A special feature is the play element in which toddlers explore and comment on the information contained in the illustrations. Their activities suggest how parents can use play to extend the ideas introduced in the text. In this way, the skills and vocabulary of the very young are increased. "Wheels" illustrates the many uses of the wheel in the transportations of goods and people, in industry and in play and demonstrates that wheels are used everywhere. Barbara Taylor is an environmental scientist. She has worked for the Natural History Museum, and as an editor for several major children's book publishers. She is now a full-time author and editor of science and natural history books for children. Her many publications include the "Fun With Science" series.
Jane Carroll is a young illustrator who has worked extensively as a designer of fabrics and gift wrapping and won the Regent Street Christmas Lights competition in 1987.
