Description
It is said that we live in an information society and that there has been an information explosion during the present century. Indeed we live in an age when the storage, transmission, retrieval, and the creation of information by electronic means has suddenly become commonplace. Clearly our educational system must take all this into account and adjust, both to the possible use of microcomputers in teaching, and to the preparation of students to take their place in the modern world of high technology. This volume stresses that if our science and technology education is really to serve future human needs we must ensure that the technique of information transfer chosen is appropriate to the age and experience of the receivers, appropriate to the subject matter, appropriate to the abilities and skills of the teacher, appropriate to the financial circumstances, appropriate to the cultural background of the region and appropriately free from distortions and confusions.
