Description
Are you confused by the welter of different qualifications and approaches to English language teaching? Are you thinking of entering the profession, either as part of a gap year or for the longer term, but are unsure of which route to take? If so, this guide to getting into, and succeeding in, the world of English language teaching should help you make the right decisions. Clearly explaining the difference between TEFL, ELT, TESOL, EAP, ESP and the mass of other acronyms that surround this career, the guide is also packed with cautionary tales and practical advice from people involved in teaching English both abroad and in the UK. Showing you how to enter, progress in and move between different ELT pathways, this up-to-date new edition also includes details of the various qualifications offered and will help you to assess the institutions that provide and accredit such qualifications. It also includes an update on qualifications required for the ELT in the post-16 section in the UK.
