Growing crops

Red Squirrel Phonics is a new series of decodable readers from Raintree, packed with real stories and non-fiction texts using words that children can read. The programme teaches children phonics skills in a sequential and systematic way so that they can learn the sounds (phonemes) and the letters that represent them (graphemes) and then practise and apply this knowledge through reading appealing, decodable texts that make sense. In this Level 6 Set 2b book focusing on the 'u' and 'oul' graphemes, we take a look at how crops are grown. Long ago, farmers used animals and hand tools to grow crops. Now farmers can use different tools, drills and machinery. This book follows the journey of a crop from being planted in soil to our plates.
