Description
A land suitability evaluation criterion, with ranked parameters, for precision agriculture application in developing countries, is formulated. A pilot study was carried out for precision agriculture application for soybean cultivation in Khon Kaen province of Thailand. The parameters affecting crop productivity was divided into four classes based on physical factor considerations and were again compared with the economic return of the farmland to select the final suitable maps for precision agriculture application. Eighty six percent of total area is suitable for precision agriculture application for soybean crop.Site specific management zones were identified based on the role of individual parameters and current availability status. The book also emphasized on the field level precision agriculture for small size farmlands (0.5 to 1 ha) in the developing countries. The feasibility of grid-based and small-farmland-based precision agriculture application was evaluated on the basis of average farmland size.
