Explorations in Wood

Tim Stead's remarkable work has earned him an international reputation for his furniture, and now for his sculpture, through which he seeks to excite, inform and stimulate the imagination. This book examines and explores Tim Stead's work over the last 15 years which includes the throne used by the Pope on his visit to Scotland, Stead's own house, exhibitions, Glasgow's Cafe Gandolfi and the Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen. All of Stead's furniture and sculptures complement each other as they investigate the grain, the infinite forms, the timelessness and the mystery of wood. His impassioned love of wood and concern for the environment means that he is also deeply involved in conservation, establishing tree-planting schemes in Scotland and Nepal.
