Description
This might be called a primer in the Greek of the New Testament. Beginning with the basic matters of alphabet, pronunciation, and accent, Dr. Summers has prepared a well-organized and clearly stated textbook for use in seminary and college classes. It is divided into thirty- three lessons, which in turn are subdivided under the headings: Lexical Study, Grammatical Study, and Practical Application. Under the last appear exercises in translation of both Greek into English and English into Greek. For help in these exercises, an adequate vocabulary and a complete set of paradigms appear at the back of the book.
Dr. Summers' approach to the study of language comes from years of experience as a teacher and from his thorough proficiency in New Testament Greek itself. It is the author's intention and practice "to teach Greek forms (inflection) and at the same time teach the basic function of the forms, i.e., the significance of cases, tenses, voices, moods, etc., of the language."
Essential for the beginning student of New Testament Greek, this book will also be valuable for a refresher course for pastors and others who may want to grow in their use of the Greek New Testament.
