Description
Mieke Gerritzen developed a strong visual style which slowly became a vision - a clear vision about the state of the world: a place for consumption where fame, power and money are creating the atmosphere. Her small book series are projects by themselves, an artform to express ideas about trends in design, politics and economics. In the intellectual first part of the book - "Visual Power Show" - you will find a critical contribution to the discussion around visual culture and the influence of media, technology and economics on the image. "Beautiful World", the scond part, is a typographical movie, the first in the world, a film about a visual language of signs, codes and trends with the goal of deploying products, visions, statements, politics, subcultures and everything possible in the name of visible economic growth. In "Style First" Gerritzen drives the power of visuals and vision to a climax using the characteristics of a glossy (woman) magazine such as short articles, ideas, tips, slogans, interviews, graphics, photos and more - without being a persiflage.
