Bereits während seines Medizinstudiums in Freiburg begann für Jürgen Strutz die Faszination der Marke Bugatti im benachbarten Elsaß. Ihn beeindruckte der Mythos und die einzigartige Ästhetik von Motor und Karosserie. Damit fiel sein Fokus bereits auf Jean Bugatti, den Schöpfer der schönsten Fahrzeuge der Automobilgeschichte. Die berufliche Karriere als Professor für Medizin führte ihn nach Regensburg. Hier schrieb er medizinische Fachbücher und wissenschaftliche Beiträge. Doch die Bugatti-Faszination blieb bestehen und führte zu diesem historischen Roman über Jean Bugatti in seinem letzten Lebensjahr; er wurde nur 30 Jahre alt.
