"Simple rhyming lines build a wonderful organic cadence with one fewer baby stick each time we turn the page as they become skilled at blending into their twig- and sprig-filled environment. It's pretty challenging to find all the babies (although their toys help), but this neat trick has the added benefit of slowing down the story and demonstrating how good actual stick bugs are at making themselves invisible."
