Person
In the course of being certified as a pilot, Tom Stienstra found himself looking down from airplanes, shocked by the high number of remote lakes, streams, and campsites sprinkled across vast amounts of landscape. He chose to dedicate himself to searching out and exploring little-known spots throughout the Pacific Northwest and California. Tom's adventure stories are distributed across the nation on the New York Times News Service. He has been twice honored with the Presidents Award by the Outdoors Writers Association of America as the national Outdoor Writer of the Year for the newspaper division. He lives in Weed, California, with his wife, Stephani, and their two sons.
