Tanja Stern, born in 1952 in East Berlin, graduated in theatre studies, worked as an editor, book-seller, secretary etc. Her literary debut was in 1985 with 'Far away from Cannes'. She lives in Wildau near Berlin, writes novels, children's books, literary and historical essays with the focus on history of communism.
