Tracy Brubaker is a successful Maryland attorney who doesn’t handle murder cases—that is until her former lover, the man who broke her heart, is accused of murdering his father. Even though the evidence against Brian Shane seems strong enough to prove his guilt, Tracy comes to his defense. She finds herself playing detective—a lifelong ambition since she read her first Nancy Drew book. Despite the grim circumstances, Tracy finds she is enjoying the hunt for clues as she compiles a list of other possible suspects, all of whom had a motive for wanting Brian’s father dead. She also finds herself reliving the past: memories both pleasant and painful.
