Alastair Steele is a railway historian, author and expert woodworker. A railway-lover since childhood, he's spent the last decade restoring vintage carriages on a heritage railway, alongside writing about the railways.
Locomotion is his first children's book, exploring famous icons of the railway world, along with some of the more 'off the beaten track' railways that Alastair loves best, such as narrow gauge and industrial lines.
In his spare time, Alastair plays in acoustic band, The Intention Craft, follows the trials and tribulations of Brighton & Hove Albion, and enjoys introducing his young daughter to the wonderful world of the railways.
Ryo Takemasa (Illustrator)
Ryo Takemasa is multi award-winning illustrator based in Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from Musashino Art University in 2010. Ryo's illustrations are used for a wide range of work worldwide including cook books, travel guides, editorial commissions, posters and much more. He is a member of the Tokyo Illustrators Society.
