Emma Steel taught in Special Educational Needs for many years. It was whilst teaching that she developed a passion for making books accessible to people who have varied barriers to reading. She did this through bringing books alive in the classroom.
She has now left her career in teaching, moving into publishing. As Head of Every Cherry Publishing, she strives to make accessible books for people with disabilities to read and enjoy. When she isn't reading, Emma can be found spending time with family and friends and visiting the coast as often as possible.
Wendy is an illustrator from Taiwan and is now based in Nottingham (UK) after graduating from MA Illustration at Nottingham Trent University in 2023. She is represented by The Bright Agency, working on children's picture books and licensing.
Although she was born with a rare congenital disease, which leads to a calcium deficiency in her bones, and faces physical challenges with an electric wheelchair, she never gives up on pursuing her dreams to create and aspires to bring joy, warmth, and brighten up people's days through art. She overcomes her physical disabilities and studies for illustration MA and pursues her dreams in England by herself.
Her artwork has received many illustration awards, including being highly commended for The Macmillan Prize and longlisted for The World Illustration Award, etc.
