Description
Secured operation of the power system has been a challenging task in vertically integrated utility structure as well as the emerging competitive structure of the electric supply industries. In the deregulated electricity market environment, many technical issues related with the secured operation of the system and market settlement have arisen. One of the most prevailing problems that have emerged with the deregulation of the electric power industry is the determination of the Available Transfer Capability (ATC). ATC of transmission system can be limited by various static constraints, such as line flow limit, bus voltage limit and dynamic constraints, such as small signal stability limit, transient stability limit and voltage stability limit. This thesis has mainly presented the issues of ATC determination including the effects of dynamic constraints such as transient stability limit and oscillatory stability limit.
