Description
Development, disaster and women's lives are very closely interconnected. Development can never be sustainable if it excludes half of the world's population from its concern. If we see development from the perspective of opportunity and deprivation, we will fine most of the women standing by the side of deprivation. When we try to measure the overall losses caused by disasters all over the world, we will easily fine women suffering the two-third of that. For the existing social settings, natural disasters have gendered impacts on existing societies. The everyday life experiences of women tell us the tales of deprivation, harassment and seclusion. Every girl has to complete her lonely journey in this patriarchal world in the process of becoming a woman. Women all around us are somehow facing secondary situations over the course of their life. Experiencing Gender - a review of selected writings regarding women's experiences thus tries to bring reviews of some of the writings regarding women's experiences about development, disaster and gender relations from eastern as well as western perspective.
