Description
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) also known as drones have become very popular now a days due to their use in wide variety of applications. Drones carry several components while flying and the weight of these components is mainly carried by its frame. Designing a drone that can carry heavy loads requires special concerns out of which one is designing of frame. Hence, drone frame should be of sufficient strength so that it does not collapse under these loads and should be light in weight. This project focuses on the designing and performing static structural analysis on an octocopter that can carry a payload of 15kg. Structural analysis of drone is done to determine and compare the strength of the material that can be used to manufacture the drone. It also helps to determine the stability of the drone at different altitudes, their weight lifting capacity and mechanical performance. To increase the weight lifting capacity of the drone, strength to weight ratio is to be increased by selecting suitable material for drone construction.
