Formulation and Optimization of Colon Targeted Microcapsules

In present work attempts have been made to formulate and evaluate colontargeted capsules of Ibuprofen by using polymer Sodium alginate, Xanthangum, Chitosen and Eudragit used as coating. Ibuprofen show anti-inflammatory activity. Ibuprofen meets all the ideal characteristics to formulate in the form of colon drug delivery system. Mucoadhesive polymers whose mucoadhesive properties had been reported were used along with alginate for the preparation of capsules. The mucoadhesive polymers used in the formulations were xanthan gum, eudragit, and chitosan. The capsules were prepared by orifice ionic gelation method.
