Persons
M. Ziya Sogut, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Marine Engineering at Piri Reis University and a Visiting Professor at Anadolu University. He received his undergraduate degree from Marmara University in 1988 and his master's and doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Balıkesir University in 2005 and 2009, respectively. In addition, he continues to work as a Certified Building Energy Manager, UNIDO International Energy Efficiency Expert in Industry, and as a referee for national and international scientific journals. He has managed projects and conducted studies in energy, exergy, exergoeconomic analysis and optimization, heat recovery, renewable energies and applications, energy management, cooling technologies and applications, and environmental technologies and analysis.
T. Hikmet Karakoç, Ph.D., graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Anadolu University. He earned his M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Yildiz Technical University and completed his Ph.D. at Anadolu University, where he began his full-time teaching career. He was appointed full professor at Anadolu University and is currently conducting research at Piri Reis University as a Dean of Research. Additionally, he serves as an Adjunct Professor at the National Aviation Academy. Prof. Karakoç has diverse research interests that include sustainable aviation, aircraft propulsion systems, insulation, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), indoor air quality, gas turbines, cogeneration systems, renewable energy, energy economics, fuels, and combustion. He has contributed to more than 30 industrial projects as a researcher, consultant, and project manager. He also initiated a contest focused on special insulation applications for university students. He has served in various editorial roles, including Editor-in-Chief, guest editor, and editorial board member for international scientific journals. Over his career, he has published more than 300 papers in national and international journals and authored 40 books. Prof. Karakoç is also an active member of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers and several sectoral associations, international scientific organizations, and societies. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association for Green Energy and serves as President of SARES, an organization dedicated to supporting scientists and students in sustainable aviation. Additionally, he is an organizer and Founding Chair of four symposia on aviation-related topics and the lead editor of the Springer book series Sustainable Aviation.
Ömer Seçgin, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Technology Faculty, at Sakarya University of Applied Sciences. He received his BSc from the Fırat University, Faculty of Technical Education, Elazig, Turkey, and his MSc in 2005. In 2019, he completed his Ph.D. at Sakarya University. His research areas include metal forming, manufacturing, optimization, additive manufacturing, and finite element analysis.
