Description
This volume marks the second issue of the Publications of the American Association for Netherlandic Studies (PAANS), published under the auspices of the American Association of Netherlandic Studies. Like its predecessor, Dutch Linguistics at Berkeley 1985, this issue represents a biennial production of the best scholarly papers on Dutch literature presented at the Berkeley conferences. The essays in this volume investigate the historical and cultural phenomenon of the Low Countries, i.e. the Netherlands and the parts of Belgium whose principal language is Dutch. They represent the contributions of both seasoned and new scholars, and reflect the range of literary criticism both modern and postmodern approaches prevalent today as well as challenging re-evaluations of Dutch Literary History. Co-published with the American Association for Netherlandic Studies.
