Description
This book has been designed to help the reader get to grips with the 1988 Revision of AACR2. Inclusive of a disk which enables the reader to follow a decision-making flowchart, the book should prove to be of interest to those seeking to understand the complexities of AACR2. A brief introduction to author cataloguing highlights how techniques using printed algorithms enable the rules to be applied in a sequence of logical steps. A feature of this edition is the inclusion of a disk. The algorithms contained in the printed volume have been transformed into sets of rules for an expert system. As a set of expert system rules, the algorithms can be used for training cataloguers or in order to investigate the structure of the expert system itself. The expert system shell runs on a PC compatible using DOS3.2 or above, with a minimum of 512K of memory.
