This is the first complete catalogue of oil paintings by Allan Ramsay, a Scotsman whose career in the eighteenth century spanned the period in which British art established a national identity. The book includes more than 600 portraits and selected drawings, as well as a biographical summary, chronology of portraits, and informative introduction.
