Summer 08Although this book is only a little bigger than A5 format it is full of information and ideas.
A history and description of silk and velvet is followed by easy painting and dyeing techniques, which are comprehensively explained and illustrated with photographs. The chapter on Resist, Devore and Discharge is equally well explained, and includes the more unusual use of potassium permanganate for dyeing, and the use of household bleach for discharge. There is an interesting section on block printing and stencilling, with ideas on making your own unique blocks and stencils. Many other decorative techniques are explained and included are instructions for making accessories and gifts.
Lots of information and ideas here which are really interesting. * GUILD OF SILK PAINTERS *
