Sam Sheridan, a university graduate and former US Merchant Marine, always had a taste for adventure. So when he found himself in Australia, loaded with cash and intent on spending it all, he realised that he could finally indulge a long-treasured obsession of his: fighting. Driven by a desire to know what only a fighter can - about fear and violence, about the dark side of being a man - he began training with the best of the best. Within a year, he stepped through the ropes for a professional bout against a Japanese Karate champion.
