Description
June Park is a science fiction romance that takes place in June 1988 in Brea, California. Elara Rhodes spends every Tuesday afternoon (and some times other days) at June Park, down the street from the suburban neighborhood home she shares with her abusive husband Marcus and uses her visits to the park to get away from her frustrating, constantly disappointing housewife life there. And she is grief-stricken by the loss of her black cat, Bartholomew. One day at the park she encounters a mesmerizing and mysterious man, Kaelen, who's not just from out of town, but claims to come from beyond Earth. He also claims to be possessed by the spirit of her beloved cat. Is he insane? Yet, she continues to meet with him, hopelessly drawn to his charisma and charm. Her short-tempered husband finds out, and obsessive jealousy and rage ensues....

A Southern California girl from the Garden Grove suburbs who began her obsession with creative writing as a student in her elementary school circa 1970s, Marsena Shane began her literary career as soon as she graduated high school and gained her first job, a local book store clerk, before a women's fitness tutor introduced her to a New York publisher at Critic's Choice Paperbacks who published her first novella in mass market paperback, Sweet Dreams, Lady Moon. She became both a ghost writer and a work-for-hire, publishing her own series of fitness self-help books soon after, starting with Great Legs in Six Weeks (1988) which became The Easy Way to Great Legs, as well as Nancy: A Reagan Biography (formerly Nancy: Biography of the First Lady), and subsequent works of fiction such as June Park and The Martian Coal Miner. Currently, Ms. Shane now lives in Northern California with her many beloved cats.
