Nitrogen Heterocycles in Neurodegenerative Disorders
Description
Neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Huntington's disease, represent a rapidly escalating global health burden with limited disease-modifying therapies. Advances in medicinal chemistry have highlighted nitrogen-containing heterocycles as powerful scaffolds in the search for effective neuroprotective agents. Their structural diversity, target specificity, and favorable pharmacological profiles position them at the forefront of next-generation drug discovery.
Nitrogen Heterocycles in Neurodegenerative Disorders: Chemistry and Therapeutic Potential deliver a comprehensive and research-driven exploration of the chemistry, biological relevance, and translational promise of nitrogen-based heterocyclic compounds. Distinct in its integrative approach, the book bridges synthetic chemistry, molecular pharmacology, and clinical perspectives. It not only discusses established heterocyclic frameworks but also critically evaluates emerging scaffolds, structure-activity relationships, and challenges in blood-brain barrier penetration-offering readers both foundational knowledge and forward-looking insights.
Key Features:
¿ Detailed overview of neurodegenerative disease pathophysiology
¿ Exploration of molecular targets and signaling pathways
¿ Design, synthesis, and SAR studies of key nitrogen heterocycles
¿ Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic considerations for CNS drugs
¿ Future perspectives on heterocycle-based neurotherapeutics
This volume serves as an essential reference for medicinal chemists, pharmaceutical scientists, neuroscientists, clinicians, and postgraduate researchers seeking a deeper understanding of heterocyclic strategies in combating neurodegeneration.
