Poet, artist and film historian, Spencer Selby was born in 1947 in Iowa City, Iowa, and studied political science and psychology at The University of Iowa. In the mid-1980s he started SINK Press in San Francisco, and coordinated The Canessa Park Reading Series in North Beach from 1987-93. In 1993 he created The List of Experimental Poetry/Art Magazines. As a website the list has become an important source of info for innovative writers around the world. Spencer Selby's poetry publications include Insta, Barricade, House of Before, Sound Off, No Island, The Big R and Task. He also has three books of visual work: Stigma, Malleable Cast and Problem Pictures. His art has appeared in a number of group shows, and he was co-editor of the visual poetry magazine Score.
