Description
Partnering is increasingly adopted in both Europe and the UK in order to overcome the adversarialism which is often associated with traditional forms of contracting for construction projects. This adversarialism is often the result of a lack of commercial alignment between all parties involved in a project. Alliancing is a project-specific form of partnering which is distinguished by a financial incentive scheme designed to link the rewards of all the contracting parties to the performance achieved on the project as a whole. Partnering in Europe focuses on alliancing and how to implement it. Beginning with a general discussion of partnering, it moves on to look at the key features of alliancing and explains the benefits of adopting alliancing. The main part of the book takes the form of a tool-kit which has been developed from the contributions of individuals who have had direct experience in setting up an alliance. Each of the sections deals with a specific aspect of creating a successful alliance and will provide a useful framework for readers to adapt to their own circumstances. Alliances have been in use for nearly a decade and have led to some spectacular successes.
Drawing on the ideas and practical experience of more than 40 ECI members, this practical guide to good practice in creating a successful alliance will prove essential reading for all involved in the construction industry.
