Description
This book is an aid to clinical surgery and should not be regarded as a comprehensive surgical text. The objective is to provide medical students with nearly all the factual information they require to pass their standard examinations. The editors had three objectives: (1) to introduce the basic vocabulary and surgical principles for students to feel at ease on the surgical ward; (2) to provide the essential information on common surgical conditions, enabling students to tackle the major taks of analyzing clinical problems; and (3) to speed the student on his or her passage through the various surgical examinations, though they accept that the actual syllabus may vary widely between schools. It has not been an objective to supply detail of surgical operations; where needed, this information is readily available from specialist manuals.
