Youssef Mohammad Sawani is a distinguished Professor of Politics and International Relations at the Department of Political Science at the University of Tripoli, Libya. He earned his PhD in International Relations from the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK in 1997. Dr Sawani's contributions span a wide range of topics, including Arab politics, and international relations, and he has published extensively in both Arabic and English.Dr Sawani has held significant leadership roles, including the chairmanship of the Political Science Department at the University of Tripoli. He also served as the Director General and Director of Studies at the Centre for Arab Unity Studies in Beirut. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in advancing scholarly research on the Arab World and he was the editor-in-chief of its influential monthly journal, Al Mustaqbal Al-Arabi, which focuses on contemporary Arab issues and perspectives. He was the Editor of Contemporary Arab Affairs, a peer-reviewed journal, from 2016 to 2021.
