Description
Designed for introductory courses in operations management, this is a broad spectrum package of spreadsheet-based software tools for performing quantitative analysis, including add-ons like "what's best" (for linear programming), plus Monte Carlo simulations, forecasting, and more. The emphasis throughout is on modelling operations management problems, and the "Glass Box", as opposed to a "Black Box", approach allows 40 spreadsheet applications to be viewed, understood, modified, and re-combined with other applications. It is documented using a new graphic representation of spreadsheet models known as the Worksheet Flow Diagram which provides an intuitive explanation for spreadsheet models, as well as a basis for evaluating student performance. The user interface and data are in Lotus 1-2-3, and can be used with Quattro as well. Also available are an accompanying 3.5" disk (ISBN 0-07-832599-4), and an "Instructor's Manual" (ISBN 0-07-839537-2).
