This book presents the selected peer-reviewed papers from the national conference Futuristic Approaches in Civil Engineering (FACE) 2019. This volume focuses on latest research and challenges in the field of geotechnical, transportation, environmental and water resources engineering. Dr. Umashankar Balunaini is currently working as Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. His expertise and research interests include reinforced earth structures, soil-structure interaction, foundation engineering, ground improvement techniques, and recyclable materials in geotechnics. He has graduated from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, and earned his masters from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He received his doctorate from Purdue University, USA. Before joining IIT Hyderabad, he was a graduate research assistant at Purdue University. Dr. Umashankar has filed one patent and published more than 50 articles in journals and conference proceedings. He is an active member of the Indian Geotechnical Society and also a reviewer for various reputed journals.
Dr. Deepti Avirneni is currently working as Assistant Professor, Mahindra Ecole Centrale, Hyderabad. Her expertise and research interests include sustainable pavement materials, and pavement design. She has graduated from Acharya Nagarjuna University in 2006 andearned her masters from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in 2008. She received her doctorate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. Before joining Mahindra Ecole Centrale Hyderabad in 2017, she worked as Associate Professor at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad, during 2016-2017. Dr. Deepti has published more than 25 papers in journals and conference proceedings.
