Reviews / Votes
Sanchez achieves a Ghibli-like world of wild imagination through his incredibly detailed illustrations, and the lilac and pink colour palette makes this graphic novel stand out. * BookTrust * Rune: The Tale of a Thousand Faces was the first graphic novel to win a Waterstones Children's Book Prize, gaining the younger-readers award earlier this year. In this sequel, Chiri and Dai are invited to the Obsidian Maze to fight the sinister MidKnight. Chiri is deaf and Sanchezworked with deaf consultants to accurately portray how Chiri uses sign language to enhance her spell-casting. There is also dark magic, druids, delicious desserts and dragons. -- Charlotte Eyre * The Bookseller, '10 Titles Not to Miss in November' * Chiri and Dai are still in the magical world of Puddin'. Chiri is fitting in really well, her sign language skills are helping her a lot. Dai is feeling a little less at home as if he doesn't have a role. Then an invitation arrives from the heart of the maze and adventure awaits.I loved this book. It's a great continuation of book one. The stakes are getting higher and higher. I read it in no time and loved being back in this world. Special mention needs to go to the snarky bottled up Shadow King. He made me laugh out loud more than once. -- Eilish at Rustington * Waterstones Bookseller Review *
