Description
This book brings together the latest findings in physiology and anatomy of the association cortices. Its purpose is to present our current understandings of the relationships between the various cognitive functions and neural structure of the association cortex, especially in the primate. The first three sections of the book describe the parietal, temporal and prefrontal cortices, and their subdivisions, with regard to sensory cortical pathways. those cortical regions are interconnected to form parallel and hierarchial functional networks. The final section of the book specifically deals with the human association cortex. Current physiological studies are focusing increasingly on the smaller subdivisions of the cortex of association, each of which specializes in processing a different kind of higher order information.
This title presents some of the newest developments in cognitive neuroscience and will undoubtedly be of interest to neuroanatomists, neurophysiologists, neuropsycologists, neurologists and neurosurgeons.
