Description
Protein-nucleic acid interactions have been a focal point of scientific interest and research over the past three decades. This volume contains a series of essays which describe a range of problems in the field, investigated by a variety of techniques. An introductory chapter on DNA-protein interactions in the regulation of gene expression is followed by papers on selected model systems. These cover several orders of magnitude in size, going from small proteins through Lac repressor headpiece and RNase T1 to chromatin. The aim of the text has been to reflect the diversity of problems even in this well-defined scientific field, and to provide researchers with all of the important techniques currently used to study the interactions.
