Description
Introduces students to a wide range of texts including literary classics, modern literature, personal and factual text (diary entries, autobiographies, letters, reports, speeches, newspaper articles, cartoons, photographs, brochures, advertisements). Prepares students for the transition to the restructured Leaving Certificate programme through a selection of texts and exercises, varying in difficulty from easy to quite challenging. Students are encouraged to improve their writing skills using the extracts given as examples. The aim of English Experience 2 is to develop the students' responses to a variety of texts and prompt them to create their own texts. English Experience 2 appeals to Junior Certificate students through its layout, colourful design and use of cartoons and photos for dramatic effect. Short and long extracts feature in every chapter, allowing students to study texts within a class period, or do an in-depth study of a specific genre. Established learning objectives are listed at the outset of each chapter.
