Multiculturalism raises the issue of what characterizes our unity as Americans. Specific issues are treated in dialogues: immigration policy; affirmative action; redistricting; IQ and race; feminism; hate/abuse speech; the handicapped; logos and symbols; whether English should be our official language; and multicultural education. These dialogues present the best arguments of the different sides and reveal how these sides might argue back and forth. A positive approach (reuniting America) rather than a negative approach (disuniting America), is followed.

Person
The Author: Donald H. Roy is presently an associate professor of Political Science at Ferris State University. He received his doctorate from the University of Notre Dame. He has published two other sets of dialogues: Dialogues in American Government and Public Policy Dialogues. He is currently working on dialogues concerning the demise of public intellectuals and the divisions within modern liberalism.
