Lucy Rowland grew up in Cheltenham and gained a degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Reading before becoming a children's speech and language therapist in South London. Lucy has loved reading and listening to poetry from a young age and has turned her passion into writing picture book stories with quirky characters and irresistible rhythms - as seen in Jake Bakes a Monster Cake, Pirate Pete and His Smelly Feet, Little Red Reading Hood, A Hero Called Wolf and her many other brilliant picture books including The Heart on Your Hand.
Asa Gilland is a Swedish illustrator who loves all things retro, quirky imagery, and folk art themes. She studied interior design at Accademia Italiana Moda and has twenty years of experience in illustration. She illustrated Macmillan's The Heart on Your Hand, This is Our World and We Are All Different as well as many beautiful picture books. Asa's father was a cartographer and she loves to travel and has lived in seven countries. She now lives in Indonesia.
