Description
This book was prepared from the papers and discussions associated with an international workshop on Issues and Practices in Planning the Quality of Education organized by the International Institute for Educational Planning in November 1989. The first part considers the differing information requirements for different levels of decision making in education and a review of established educational information collection practices. The second explores the linkages between information and the quality of education. The third considers two areas where many countries have experienced difficulties in the collection and use of educational information: the dialogue between the producers and consumers of information, and the technical issues associated with the collection, preparation, and analysis of information. A conclusion summarizes the fundamental needs for training and research that emerged from the preceding chapters.
Reviews / Votes
The outcome of the workshop is a real book, not a scissors and paste job on the conference papers. This is a readable and well organised book in which data and ideas are anlalysed and presented with refreshing clarity. It combines theory with realism and truly down-to-earth advice. This will be a truly useful book in the hands of educational planners and administrators, the teachers of educational planning and administration and the serious students thereof. Comparative Education ...the book is a useful and well conceived one and gives a valuable insight into the major issues and problems of qualitative improvement in education through the proper use of information in educational planning. The book is worth reading by teachers, researchers and administrators in the field of educational planning as it gives a 'new dimension' to educational planning.
